About the host: Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal owns 3 estates located in the Demarcated Region of Óbidos (A.O.C.): Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras and Quinta de S. Francisco. The names of these estates ("Quintas") stand for the most prestigious AOC wines produced in the region, in the hands of the same family for 4 generations. Located only 40min away from Lisbon, in recent years, the Company invested in the tourism and service areas in order to take advantage of the high potential of its exclusive buildings. At Quinta do Sanguinhal, the Pereira da Fonseca family and a dedicated team, welcome thousands of wine tourists every year. The estate holds one of the first distilleries built in the region, with beautiful column copper alembic stills. The granite cellars with wood and granite screw presses, one of which dating from 1871, are unique in Iberian Peninsula. The growing interest in wine tourism, has led us to establish a tour program, that allows us to share our lovely gardens and aging cellars. Besides this tourist tour, our centenary buildings provide also great characteristics to hold private and institutional events. Quinta do Sanguinhal is also close to the famous beaches of Peniche, Baleal and Nazaré, and on the route to the historical villages of Óbidos, Alcobaça and Fátima, allowing a full day program. The Pereira de Fonseca Family is looking forward for your visit!

Testimonials: "Ana the 3rd generation owner of this great estate took us around. It is worth a quick call to book ahead. She is passionate about her families craft and the wine vats and distillery equally impressive. After the tour we sat down to try the wines. Ana took us through from an easy 'terrace' white wine to a lovely reserve red. These are great tasting and value wines that don't make it much abroad due the the limited quantity. All in all and great trip out and impressed all our children (22, 19 and 10). Worth the trip and Ana was the perfect host. " Charles E. | "It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and some of your family and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to visit your facilities. Everyone I have talked to from that tour said they had a remarkable time. Personally it was the best tour I can remember having been on in my 26 years of visiting ports all over the world. The wine and food were exceptional and the hospitality was beyond reproach!" - Doug Dickinson
